It was built of bricks in the years 1434-1449 by the bishop of Kujawy Władysław Oporowski. The beginning of the castle complex was a knight's residential tower, erected at the beginning of the 15th century on an artificial island. Later, residential buildings surrounding a small cobblestone courtyard, defensive walls and a semicircular tower with a chapel on the first floor were built. Above the castle is the north-west corner tower decorated with a Gothic dagger. An annex from the courtyard dates from around 1840. "sideboard" and the neo-Gothic portal of the entrance gate and terrace in front of the bridge. The castle is surrounded by a landscape park founded in the first half of the 19th century. The castle has been hosting a museum since 1949 with an exhibition of court interiors. It consists of works of art and handicrafts presenting noble culture.
