The observation deck in the town of Kleszczów near Bełchatów, view of the Brown Coal Mine, recognized as the deepest hole in Poland - Bełchatów and the Power Plant. From the vantage point, the exploitation levels and the internal dump are clearly visible. Unfortunately, the deepest place of the mine is not visible (about -100m above sea level), but you can already see the level (about) -50m above sea level In the distance you can see coal and input excavators, stackers and serpentine conveyor belts, transporting coal to a nearby power plant. The mine has been operating since January 17, 1975. The first tons of brown coal were extracted on November 19, 1980, and the Bełchatów Mine reached its target mining capacity of 38.5 million tonnes annually in 1988. Lignite deposits discovered in 1960 stretch for 25 km along the Kamieńsk-Kleszczów-Szczerców line. According to their development plan, they will be used until 2032. The depth of the mine excavation is over 300 meters.
